Our New Partner Jack Savoretti

Our New Partner Jack Savoretti

Born to an Italian father and half-German, half-Polish mother, Jack Savoretti grew up in London before moving to the Swiss city of Lugano as a teenager. His Italian grandparents lived in Genoa and during the Second World War his grandfather Giovanni Savoretti was the leader of the city’s opposition movement (the Nazi resistance group).

Since he was a child, Jack has spent all his summers in Portofino and has unforgettable memories of the picturesque fishing village. It is a place that has never ceased to inspire him during his career as a singer, songwriter and musician.

In 2020 he performed in the Piazzetta of Portofino to raise funds for the hospital in Genoa and the victims of the Covid pandemic. There he met the founders of Portofino Dry Gin, who were the sponsors of the event. They exchanged stories and memories of their youth in Portofino and discovered many links between their families and the unique, colourful harbour on the Ligurian coast.

From their first meeting, it was clear that they had the same mission: to share their beloved Portofino with the rest of the world. It was at that point they decided they wanted to collaborate on a project; with Portofino Dry Gin Jack saw the opportunity to become part of a brand that shared his values in creating an authentic Italian product that encapsulated the true spirit of Portofino.

In the summer of 2021, Jack Savoretti became the newest partner of Pudel Srl; the company that created Portofino Dry Gin as a tribute to Klaus Pudel - a much admired custodian of Portofino and the grandfather of Portofino Dry Gin’s co-founder, Ruggero Raymo.

"We are very excited to be welcoming Jack as a partner of Portofino Dry Gin. It was clear from our first meeting that he is immensely proud and passionate of his heritage. Our ancestors wrote the history of Portofino and together we want to share the beauty of our village, whilst also ensuring its legacy and unique charm are preserved for generations to come. Although the original fishing village may have changed since our grandparent's era, the soul of Portofino remains unchanged and that is what we want to share with the rest of the world, one sip at a time."
— Ruggero Raymo

"Portofino has always been such a special and unique place for me; both in terms of my Italian heritage and for inspiring so much of my work. I carry the beauty of Portofino and the passion of its people with me in my heart, everywhere I go. I am delighted to find myself now working with those very people and helping to share the wonder of Portofino. It is an absolute honour for me, and I look forward to raising a glass with you all. Salute!”
