June 8th is recognised globally as World Ocean Day, and it marks the beginning of the 2023 edition of the One Ocean Week in Milan. A week dedicated to the oceans with events, meetings, and educational workshops to highlight the extraordinary value of marine ecosystems and the critical role that each of us plays in protecting them.

Those who know us can understand how much these issues are relevant for us. That's why, starting today and continuing throughout the whole month of June, we at Portofino Dry Gin will be on the front lines alongside our partners at One Ocean Foundation organising and supporting a series of activities to promote and consolidate the protection of the oceans.

About the Posidonia Oceanica

In particular, our efforts will be focused on raising funds for the reforestation of Posidonia Oceanica: a seagrass which plays an important role in the marine ecosystem, by capturing carbon dioxide (CO2), generating oxygen and providing habitat and nutrition for many species of fish, crustaceans and molluscs.

The charity auction

In this regard, we are launching a charity auction today featuring six hand-painted 5-liter bottles of our gin.

These unique pieces, created by Italian artists Caterina Marotta, Elisa Puglielli, Francesca Futura Malanca, Giulia Tassi, Sara Stefanini and Valerio Sigismondi, who were asked to paint a continuous illustration on the three sides of the iconic bottle, expressing their personal interpretation on the theme “Preserving the oceans”. The artworks are available for purchase by bidding on charitystairs.com  with all proceeds benefiting the One Ocean Foundation's cause.
