PhMuseum and Portofino Dry Gin: A Continued Creative Partnership
We continue our creative partnership with PhMuseum, a collaboration that began in 2021. This initiative invites emerging artists to Portofino, providing them with the opportunity to express their personal interpretation of the Italian Riviera.
Over the years, we have collaborated with artists such as Alejandro Chaskielberg, Piergiorgio Sorgetti, and Martina Giammaria. This year, a new feature has been introduced: an open call specifically targeting Mexican photographers or those living in Mexico.
This search led to the selection of Carolina Pimenta, a talented Portuguese artist who resides between Mexico City and Lisbon. Carolina’s innovative photographic approach—ranging from conceptual work to street photography—impressed us with her ability to bring a fresh perspective to Portofino.
Her sharp eye for color, attention to detail, and playful intimacy with her subjects made her the perfect choice for this project. Arriving in Portofino, Carolina embraced the opportunity to explore a place that, despite its small size, is renowned globally for its elegance and allure.
Her project, titled High Seas, High Hopes, captures a blend of contrasts, where luxury meets simplicity. It showcases the coexistence of local traditions with tourism, yachts with ferries, and the interplay of private beach shadows with sunlit skin. Carolina's work invites viewers to reflect on these contrasts and consider how a place’s identity is shaped and reshaped.
Carolina Pimenta’s project will debut at the fourth edition of PhMuseum Days, an international photography festival in Bologna, from September 12 to 15, 2024. This year's theme, "CLOSER", encourages audiences to look more deeply, focusing on how partiality, contamination, and subjectivity influence the way reality is perceived. After the festival, her works will be exhibited in Mexico City, with the support of Coop Spirits, our local distributor.
